Message from JP | Sept 1 2011 I trust that we are all fit and well and raring to go for the new season? The leaves have not quite started to fall from the trees and the pitches are still a little firm but it will soon be time to dust off the old boots and put all the summer fitness training to good use.
Although I have heard rumours of one or two "retirements" I will remain in denial until I have received written confirmation, so if you have had enough of my missives and no longer wish to be considered a "Kasual" please let me know.
Equally if you know of any potential future Kasuals please feel free to pass on my contact details.
Down to business:
Firstly: TRAINING:
Friday nights - Legh Arms - "early doors club" 6-7pm: Commencing Friday 2nd September with special guest appearance by our former sponsor and now American liaison officer, Big Ted Taylor. (Obviously training is conducted exclusively in the bar area so dress appropriately!)
Secondly: FIXTURES
As with last season, the kasuals will try to take up some of the strain from the 2s heavy fixture list. Obviously we look forward to our favourite fixture against Wilmslow 3s (last year's 12-10 win was definitely one of our best ever games) as well as competing in the 2s cup tournament, the Raging Bull shield. In addition we have a one off "friendly" under flood lights against Sale vets - a must play for every one even those considering retirement!
Fixture List until Christmas (subject of course to immediate change without notice!)
Saturday 22nd Oct - Wilmslow 3s (H) - (I appreciate this is the first week of half term so please advise availability asap - as I have said, a big game which needs a big squad!)
Friday 4th Nov - Sale Vets (A) kick off tbc but likely 7pm
Saturday 26th Nov - Crewe 3s (H) First round of cup
Thirdly: This Saturday!
This season the 2s will be led by Howard Dunkerley. As always they have a full fixture list (a game every Saturday until 17th December) and Howard would greatly appreciate the presence of any Kasuals to support his young guns on any Saturday but especially for the first game away against Acton Nomads this Saturday afternoon. Even if you can only manage 30 mins it will make a difference and it would be great to have a decent side out for the first game of the campaign so please consider having a run out.
E-mail Howard or Gavin direct for instructions - go on you know you want to!
Until tomorrow Brothers,
I remain as ever your Kasual servant, JP
