Knutsford 19 | Montmorency 12

In a well contested game Knutsford Rugby's under 19 side held off a late challenge from the visitors from Montmorency to win the first meeting between the two sides. The first half was a keenly contested affair where the defences on both sides prevailed as both sides searched for the opening score. As the half wore on Knutsford's forwards began to dominate the game and with it possession and following a period of sustained pressure by the forwards the ball was moved through the backs to create the first try for Nick Cawson with the last play of the half, Adam Ellary converted giving the home side a 7-0 lead at half time.

Knutsford began the second half as they ended the first and scored two further tries from the forwards, the first coming from Charlie Crosby after a fine run which left the French defence in tatters, the try was converted by Lawrence James. The second try was scored by prop Mike Austin who powered his way over the line, James missed the conversion. The final twenty minutes of the game saw the Montmorency side come to grips with Knutsford powerful forwards and they managed to score two late tries one of which was converted to put the French side within a converted try. The Knutsford team rallied and held out for the final few minutes to emerge victorious. This was a great effort by all the Knutsford squad to overcome a well organised and talented side from Montmorency.

In the second match Montmorency ran out comfortable winners 34 points to 12 winners over Rochdale.
