Mini and Junior Section Update

  April 18th 2010 | At the start of this season neither Knutsford Rugby Club or Northwich Rugby Club had enough players on their own to take part in any competitive Rugby, so both senior coaches decided to pool their resources to great effect. Now with a regular squad of 19 players the combined team collected their first trophy of the year, the Cheshire Vase, at the Cheshire Cup this Sunday beating established sides from Macclesfield, Stockport and St Anselms and only losing to the eventual overall winners Caldy in the group stages.   The Mini and Junior Section of the Knutsford Rugby Club is a marvellous environment to enjoy Rugby at all age groups. The Section has grown in strength and has been awarded the first stage of the RFU Seal of Approval. The RFU, in conjunction with Sport England, introduced the Seal of Approval scheme in 2002 in an attempt to increase and sustain the number of youngsters participating in rugby at grass roots level. Clubs are assessed by the RFU and must demonstrate evidence of good practice in areas such as administration, development, duty of care, sports equity and playing programme.   With over a 110 players, the Mini and Junior Section is a great way to enjoy sport (age groups from 7 upwards; both boys and girls). Training and matches on Sunday mornings between 10:30am and 12:00am at Egerton Youth Club, Mereheath Lane, Knutsford (not Knutsford Sports Club). All new players at all levels are really welcome to join in.
