Knutsford Rugby Club | Kasuals | Match Report

  December 6th 2008 | Match report | Northwich Vets 7 v Knutsford Kasuals 33

Knutsford Kasuals faced nearest rivals Northwich Vets at Moss Farm on Saturday to finish their 2008 fixtures and secured a very impressive 4th successive win.

Despite a very strong pack from the home team having the edge in the scrums, Knutsford held their own and unleashed their much stronger backs who dominated the game, especially in the 1st half.

Barnstorming centre Muirhead set up new boy Daniel Taylor who fed flying winger Dave Carter to run in the 1st try from 50 yards. Shortly after super-fit No.8 Parr pounced on an excellent kick off from fly-half Webb, to confuse the Northwich pack and run in un-opposed under the sticks.

Kasuals 3rd try came from Harold Southgate with a brilliant side-step he beat three men to slice open the defence and score. Just before half-time and after an excellent backs move, Carter got his second when he cleverly moved inside off a deft pass from Taylor to round off an excellent backs move.

Early in the 2nd half, Northwich showed some resistance when they ran in a well worked try which was converted. The game was finished off when in-form Sawyer put through Foord who combined well with Rowsell who scored another excellent try. Captain McGuinness secured his 4th conversion out of 5 before retiring hurt late on with a bad head injury.

Next Kasuals game is at home against Sandbach Vets on Jan 17th, when they look to continue their great form and champagne rugby.

  November 22nd 2008 | Match report | Yarnbury RFC Vets 0 - Knutsford RFC Kasuals 5

Knutsford Rugby Veterans, the Kasuals had there first outing of the season after a well earning rest following a hectic 2007/2008 season.

Travelling over to Leeds to take on this well established Yorkshire Vets side; all the signs were they would be up against it. However, the Kasuals totally dominated the game from start to finish and never has a game been so one sided but not reflected in the final score.

They Kasuals simply outclassed the opposition.

In the early encounters the Kasuals showed silky handling skills, when flanker Guy Willepaas put through Jim Jameson who fed Richard Luckforit who was unlucky to held up over the line.

Minutes later the pressure told, and inspiration captain McGuinness slipped the ball neatly to Barry John who fed jinking centre Jugster who cleverly fed the ball to Harold Murphy who burst through 2 tackles to crash over the line to give the visitors a well earned lead.

Knutsford pack dominated upfront and with hooker Lunnon winning lots of ball, many more tries should have followed, only for some excellent back moves to be spoiled by handling errors in the freezing conditions.

A very powerful all round performance extended this new vets side winning run to three games and further extended their reputation on the Vets circuit.
