Chairmans Opening Address for the 2008-2009 Season.
Knutsford Rugby Club is a fantastic example of a community sports club that has really impacted upon it's local environment. We are now in our fifth season and in such a short space of time, the milestones that we have achieved are truly remarkable. We now have three seniors sides, with a 1st XV and 2nd XV playing every week and a 'Kasuals' side that plays whenever there are enough veterans fit enough at any one time!
The junior section has teams right through from Under 7's to Under 16's and at some age groups is able to run out as many as three sides. Our junior Chairman, Steve Mooney is doing a fantastic job of promoting junior rugby in our local community and the junior membership is literally increasing week by week.
No Rugby Club is complete without the social aspect and Knutsford Rugby Club's social scene is simply incredible, catering for over one thousand guests at seven or more events each season.
This is also a club who are very aware of their responsibility to support other good causes. During the last four seasons we have run an annual Rugby Ball and raised over 60K GBP, all of which has been donated to charity.
2008-2009 season is yet another fantastic opportunity for the club to make a greater impact on developing sport within the community. We relish the challenge !
Gareth Walton, Chairman, Knutsford Rugby Club.
